Why coffee HR is its own thing

Coffee operations have a peculiar HR shape. Processing staff triples during harvest and returns to baseline in the off-season. Field agents work in areas with no mobile coverage. Payroll has to follow NBE tax tables, pension deduction rules, and Ministry of Revenue filing formats specific to Ethiopia.     Onboard the employee

    Complete master file, upload ID and contract, set salary and payment method. Employee starts in 'active' state.

    Attendance logged daily

    Via web punch-in at office, mobile with geolocation in the field, biometric integration on Enterprise. Approved by supervisors at end of period.

  3. 03

    Run payroll at month end

    One click. Taxes calculated per NBE tables. Deductions applied. Payslips generated. Bank transfer file exported for upload to your bank.

    File with Ministry of Revenue

    Monthly filing reports generate in the exact format Ministry of Revenue requires. One export, one upload, one filing done.

Does the payroll calculator follow current NBE rules?
Yes. Tax brackets, pension contribution rates, and filing formats are configurable and updated as regulations change. Your team gets a notification when tables update.
Can we pay piece-rate workers (per-kg harvest pickers)?
Yes. There's a variable compensation model that supports piece-rate alongside salaried and hourly. Harvest pickers can be paid per kg of cherry delivered, with the data flowing from the Production module.
Can field agents access payslips on mobile?
Yes. Each employee has a self-service portal (web + mobile) where they can view current and historical payslips and leave balance. Amharic and English available.
Does it handle seasonal workers with short contracts?
Yes. Contract end-dates are first-class. Contracts auto-expire on schedule with exit-procedure workflows. You can also bulk-onboard seasonal workers before harvest and bulk-offboard at season end.
